• The term-sheet machine printed ten disclosed rounds today, totaling one-point-five-six billion dollars. Unsurprisingly, AI was the hottest category, accounting for five of the top ten deals. The story of the day is undoubtedly River AI, whose combined Seed and Series A financing of one-point-one billion dollars represents more than seventy percent of today's total disclosed capital. No notable IPO or M&A activity to report.
• Let's dive into that headline deal. River AI has raised a combined one-point-one billion dollars in Seed and Series A financing, co-led by General Catalyst and AMP PBC. The startup, founded by an xAI co-founder, is developing a new technology stack for personal and user-owned AI. The massive early-stage funding, with strategic investment from both Nvidia and AMD, signals a serious challenge to the current paradigm of large, centralized models.
• In biotech, Vaderis Therapeutics secured one hundred fifty-two million dollars in a Series B round co-led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives and TCGX. The clinical-stage company is developing therapies for rare vascular diseases. This financing is critical, as it's intended to carry Vaderis through a potential U.S. regulatory approval for its lead drug candidate, which would be the first approved treatment for the rare genetic disorder HHT.
