Mosquitoes bite some people far more than others, and it is not random — about 1 in 5 people are genuine 'mosquito magnets.' They find you first by the carbon dioxide you exhale, then by your body heat and the moisture around your skin, and above all by your smell: carboxylic acids that skin bacteria make from your sweat. That scent is largely genetic and stable over time. Blood type barely matters, and mosquitoes are also drawn to dark colors like red, orange and black after detecting your CO2.
