- Sunday, September thirteenth, three PM Pacific. Today's biggest check is a staggering three billion dollars for The Boring Company, part of a day that saw ten disclosed rounds total four-point-two-seven billion. The deal quadruples the company's valuation to twenty-three billion dollars, signaling massive new capital for underground transport infrastructure. I'm your host. With me today are our Markets and World analysts. Let's break down the day's deal flow.
- Here's the snapshot for Sunday. Ten startups raised a disclosed total of four-point-two-seven billion dollars. The story of the day is Elon Musk's The Boring Company, which raised a three-billion-dollar Series D, quadrupling its valuation. AI was the hottest category, accounting for four of the top ten deals. There was no notable IPO or M&A activity to report today. We'll start at the top of the list with our Markets analyst.
- At number one, The Boring Company locks in a three-billion-dollar Series D, co-led by the United Arab Emirates and affiliated investment entities. This round sends its post-money valuation rocketing to twenty-three billion dollars, a four-fold increase since its last funding in 2022. The capital is earmarked to accelerate the R&D of its tunnel-boring machines and to scale up its ongoing Loop projects, which aim to alleviate urban traffic congestion with underground tunnels.
- In second place, Positron AI secures an eight-hundred-seventy-five-million-dollar Series C, reaching a five-billion-dollar valuation. The round saw participation from NEA, Atreides Management, and Jim Clark, among others. Positron develops memory-first AI inference hardware, aiming to make large language models cheaper and more energy-efficient to run. The funding follows a major deployment at Oracle Cloud and will be used to produce its next-gen silicon and systems.
- Number three is Perry Weather, raising a one-hundred-ten-million-dollar Series C led by Silversmith Capital Partners. The company provides a weather safety and operations software platform for organizations with outdoor activities, from sports leagues to construction sites. Amid increasing weather volatility and new safety regulations, the funding will help Perry Weather expand its AI-powered forecasting features and grow its team to meet surging demand.
- At number four, Payward, the parent company of crypto exchange Kraken, has raised a one-hundred-million-dollar Series C at a twenty-one-billion-dollar valuation. The strategic investment was led by Nasdaq Ventures. This move deepens the partnership between the two financial giants, with plans to integrate Nasdaq's advanced market surveillance technology into Kraken's platform and to collaborate on future tokenized equities products.
- Coming in at number five is Inspiren, with a seventy-million-dollar Series C led by NewView Capital, valuing the company at over five-hundred-million-dollars. Inspiren develops AI-powered monitoring solutions for senior living facilities, using a wall-mounted sensor to enhance resident safety and care. This round brings the company's total funding to two-hundred-twenty-five million and will be used to scale its physical AI technology across the U.S. market.
- At number six, Lightfield has raised a forty-seven-million-dollar Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz. The company, formerly known as Tome, has pivoted to build an AI-native customer relationship management platform, or CRM, designed specifically for use by AI agents. As more companies deploy AI for sales and customer service, Lightfield aims to become the essential system of record for this emerging, automated workforce. The funding will scale its new platform.
- Number seven is healthtech firm Implicity, securing forty million dollars in a Growth Equity round co-led by IRIS and Five Arrows. Implicity's AI-driven platform remotely monitors patients with cardiac implantable devices, like pacemakers. It aggregates data from different manufacturers to provide a unified view for clinicians. The new capital will accelerate the company's expansion across the U.S. and Europe and help refine its AI algorithms for predicting heart failure.
- At number eight, we have Antioch, a developer of simulation platforms for physical AI systems. The company raised a thirty-two-million-dollar Series A led by Greylock. Antioch's platform allows companies to develop, test, and validate systems like robots and drones in high-fidelity virtual environments before deploying them in the real world. This funding will be used to accelerate product development and expand its engineering team to meet growing demand.
- Rounding out the list, at number nine is Cymphony, a cybersecurity startup raising a thirty-million-dollar Seed round co-led by Sequoia. Cymphony is building an AI-native platform to govern how employees and AI agents access enterprise data. And at number ten, GenHealth.ai raised a sixteen-point-five-million-dollar Series A led by Flare Capital Partners. It's using AI agents to automate administrative tasks like billing and intake for medical offices.
- And the one thing to watch is the rise of the 'Agentic Enterprise.' Today's funding for Lightfield, building a CRM for AI agents, and Cymphony, securing them, highlights a major trend. Investors are backing the critical infrastructure needed for a future where AI agents work alongside humans as a core part of the enterprise workforce. Expect to see more capital flowing into the tools and platforms that enable, manage, and secure this new hybrid workforce. That's our show for today. We'll be back tomorrow afternoon at three PM Pacific with the next deal flow.
