  • Friday, October 16th, three PM Pacific. Today's term-sheet machine printed ten disclosed rounds, totaling over six hundred ninety-four million dollars. The day's biggest check goes to OMass Therapeutics, which just locked in a massive three hundred ten million dollar Series C. It’s a standout day for biotech and a continuing surge for AI. With me to break it all down are our Markets and World correspondents. Let's get into the numbers.
  • Here is today’s snapshot. Total disclosed funding hit $694.42 million. The largest round was OMass Therapeutics with a $310 million Series C. The hottest category continues to be AI, accounting for five of the ten deals today. In public markets, a notable M&A event as Proofpoint acquires Varonis for six-point-three billion dollars in an all-cash deal. The story of the day: AI startups are attracting significant capital at every stage, from pre-seed to major growth rounds, signaling sustained investor confidence.
  • Leading the pack is OMass Therapeutics, closing a $310 million Series C. The round was co-led by a powerhouse trio: Bain Capital Life Sciences, Forbion, and Novo Holdings. OMass is a biotech firm developing small molecule drugs for immunological and rare diseases. This massive infusion of capital is critical. It will push their lead program for congenital adrenal hyperplasia into Phase 2 clinical trials and accelerate their entire drug pipeline, offering new hope for patients with unmet medical needs.
  • In Enterprise SaaS, North.cloud secured a $60 million Series B led by PeakSpan Capital. The company provides a financial operating system designed to manage and automate the complex spending associated with cloud, AI, and data infrastructure. As companies grapple with ballooning cloud bills, North.cloud's platform offers a solution. This new funding is earmarked to enhance its autonomous cost-optimization tools for major providers like AWS and Azure, and to expand its AI spend management capabilities.
  • The AI trend continues with RapidCanvas, which raised a $29 million Series B. The round was co-led by Vertex Ventures and Hitachi Ventures. RapidCanvas is tackling a major enterprise challenge with its AI platform that allows businesses to build and deploy complex AI applications without needing deep coding expertise. This funding signals a major growth phase for the company. They plan to aggressively expand their sales and engineering teams in the United States, aiming to capture a larger share of the enterprise AI market.
  • In Healthtech, Sunbound has raised a $24 million Series A led by TTV Capital. Sunbound is developing an AI-powered revenue operating system specifically for senior living providers, aiming to automate their complex financial workflows. This funding is coupled with a strategic move: the acquisition of Richter Healthcare Consultants. This integration will embed deep financial and regulatory expertise directly into its AI platform, positioning Sunbound as a key player in the operational technology for the senior living industry.
  • Next, a vertical SaaS play. Sharp Performance has closed an $18 million Series A led by Hidden Variable. The company provides a confidential performance coaching platform tailored for first responders, addressing a critical need for mental and physical well-being support in high-stress professions. This Series A funding is a significant step, enabling Sharp Performance to scale its operations. The capital will be used to expand its services to more fire and police departments across new states.
  • Turning to Agtech and Robotics, BloomX raised a $13 million Series A from lead investor Elah Fund. BloomX is tackling a global agricultural challenge with its robotic and AI-based solutions for crop pollination. With natural pollinators like bee populations in decline, their technology provides a scalable and reliable alternative for farmers. This funding will be instrumental in expanding the technology to be effective across a wider variety of crop types, aiming to boost food security and agricultural efficiency.
  • In Fintech, Fragment secured a $12 million Series A led by FirstMark. The company is building financial infrastructure specifically for the growing ecosystem of vertical AI businesses. Their platform automates billing, payments, and accounting. This is a critical infrastructure layer. As AI agents become more autonomous and directly involved in financial transactions, Fragment's technology aims to provide the guardrails necessary to ensure accuracy, prevent costly errors, and maintain financial compliance.
  • Rounding out the seed stage deals, we see two more infrastructure plays. First, Multiliquid, a project by Uniform Labs, raised an $8 million Seed round led by Polychain. They are developing an institutional liquidity protocol for tokenized real-world assets. And second, Shamrock AI raised a $5 million Seed round from Endiya Partners to build an agentic assurance platform. This platform helps businesses reliably deploy AI agents in critical workflows, ensuring they operate as intended without failure.
  • Finally, we turn to the public markets with a significant IPO. City Therapeutics raised $200 million in its public offering, achieving a post-money valuation of $931 million. The deal was led by a syndicate including Goldman Sachs and Jefferies. City Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech company focused on developing RNA interference, or RNAi, therapeutics. This successful IPO provides the company with a major capital injection to advance its pipeline of novel therapies for a range of diseases through clinical trials.
  • And the one thing to watch heading into next week is the rise of Agentic AI Infrastructure. We saw multiple rounds today, like Fragment and Shamrock AI, focused on building the financial and assurance layers for autonomous AI agents. As businesses move from experimenting with AI to deploying agents in critical, high-stakes workflows, the demand for platforms that ensure reliability, security, and accuracy will explode. This is no longer a niche; it's becoming the foundational layer for the next wave of enterprise AI. That's our show. We'll be back tomorrow afternoon at three PM Pacific with the next deal flow.
